Our
Story

od’s timing is always perfect.
Sung and Alo’s story began with one like and one text message sent on August 13th, 2025. As Sung initiated the conversation, little did he know God would use that message to answer a prayer they had both been making for fifteen years...

ext messages became phone calls, and(those quickly) phone calls quickly became conversations that confirmed that they had finally found what they had been searching for...

ust one month later, they met in person for the very first time. On the peaceful paths of Little Island, overlooking the Hudson River, Sung asked Alo to be his girlfriend. Beneath the New York skyline, they said "yes" to a new beginning, unaware that this was only the first of many promises they would make to one another...

orn in Samsung’s hospital in Seoul, South Korea in 1995, Sung only got to spend a year in his home country before his family moved. His parents were calledto be missionaries to the Jewish people and they moved to Israel where he would spend the next nine years. At age 10, they returned to Korea for less than a year before they were called to move to the United States. His father began his theology degree in St. Louis, Missouri and then they moved to Kansas City. After he graduated high school, his family decided to move to the state that has the biggest Jewish population: New York.

In New York, Sung completed his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science as well as an associate’s degree in music production. He worked for two years at the renowned company of H Mart. He is currently pursing his master’s degree in Computer Science. He is also the worship leader at his Church and speaks three languages (Korean, Hebrew and English) (soon to be four when Alo teaches him Spanish).

hile long distance is never easy, it was never an obtacle in Sung and Alo’s love story. Every month, Sung would visit Alo or vice versa. On February 16th , 2026, at dawn and with the white sand as their witness, Sung got down on one knee and asked Alo to marry him. In between happy tears, Alo accepted.
